Channel Marker was honored to welcome Delegate Sheree Sample-Hughes for a visit focused on our mental health and wellness support services and our advocacy priorities for the 2026 Legislative Session. The discussion highlighted the ongoing challenges facing community behavioral health providers in Dorchester County and across the Mid-Shore region, and underscored the importance of ensuring legislators fully understand the scope and impact of the services Channel Marker provides.
Delegate Sample-Hughes toured our Dorchester Program facility and engaged in substantive conversations with our leadership and staff regarding the need to protect behavioral health reimbursement rates, address regulatory barriers, and strengthen and prepare the behavioral health workforce. We also emphasized the critical need for increased funding through Medicaid behavioral health rates to sustain and expand essential services for our community.
We are grateful to Delegate Sample-Hughes for taking the time to engage in an in-depth and thoughtful dialogue with our team and for her continued attention to behavioral health priorities that directly impact the well-being of individuals and families in our region.
